RDU to CLT in 30 Mins?

On Monday, Elon Musk – the genius behind Paypal, Tesla and SpaceX – released a plan for a 5th transportation mode. The Hyperloop is described as "cross between a Concorde and a railgun and an air hockey table" that could get people from San Francisco to LA in about 30 minutes. It is by far the most innovative approach to transportation in the last few decades.

However, Entrepreneur’s Editorial Director Ray Hennessey suggests that California may not be the best place for this as the regulation around transportation in the sunshine state is some of the nation’s most restrictive. He says “Even under a fast-tracked, shovel-ready project like California's bullet train, a plan hatched in 1996 won't see its first shovel hit dirt until at least 2014. It will be decades before that is completed.”

So all this leaves me thinking – How about a Hyperloop from Raleigh to Charlotte? We are a transportation friendly state with a General Assembly that has a history of relaxing regulation. The Raleigh area is one of the innovative areas in the country (shown by many lists) and we like to try out new ideas.

So how about it? Do you think a NC Hyperloop could be useful? Tell me your thoughts on this.

That would be awesome but would rather be connected to DC in 45 mins. That would boost our economy.
